Description
~ Marra Mamba tigereye cab ~

Here is a prime cabochon of rare Marra Mamba tigereye, from Australia. This startling material is, in my opinion, the most awesome tigereye in the world, and this little gem's a splendid example of the finest quality. It features amazingly colorful pearly chatoyance in blended hues of purple, pink, orange, yellow, green and blue, a veritable rainbow that rolls and flashed through the stone. Streaks of red, too, and detailed areas of shiny metallic hematite. Looked at a certain way, the stone is weirdly scenic, with one patch of hematite resembling a tree, against the 'chatoyance' of an aurora borealis sky. There's not a lot of jasper in this one, but what there is adds nicely to the colorful display, in shades of ochre, red, navy blue and orange. The flipside is amazing too, so I couldn't resist adding an extra pic to illustrate it. The cab has a high rounded dome of 6mm, a crisply bold designer shape, and a glassy polish both front and back.

Size: 44x27mm
Weight: approximately 43 carats
