Here is a classic example of rare pigeon blood agate, also known as cornelian, from Utah. This gemmy beauty is truly well marked, with a showy scattering of crimson dots and clouds in a translucent agate background. Its shape is quite versatile, and should be a joy to work with, as it will fit nicely into a wide variety of designs. The stone has a very high rounded dome of just under 8mm, a crisp symmetrical shape, and a brilliantly glassy polish both front and back.
