Ocean jasper cab ~
Here is a cabochon of top quality yellow ocean jasper. This relatively new jasper comes from Madagascar, and it's easy to see why it has so quickly found favor among jewelers and collectors. So many endless variations! This good-sized cab is one of the more agate variety, with a well placed diagonal patch green filled with pink orbs, against a yellowish orange background. Anything but common! The stone does have a nice degree of translucence, as illustrated by the backlit photo, and believe me, it's every bit as bright as these pics, if not moreso. It should look great in either silver or gold, so let your imagination soar! The stone has a very high rounded dome, a gracefully curved designer 'flame' shape, and a super glassy polish both front and back.
