Crown of Silver psilomelane cab ~
Offered here is a designer cabochon of Crown Of Silver psilomelane, from Chihuahua, Mexico. This classic material is sometimes referred to as 'black malachite', though there's no real relationship. This busy beauty contains plume figure, fine bandings in sub-metallic black and shiny silver, as well as a spot of reddish agate. The stone is very highly reflective, making photography quite challenging, but the pics are a great representation. What a fabulous bola tie this one would make! The stone has a rounded dome, a sweet symmetrical shape, and a slick glassy polish. The backside is sanded smooth and flat, and does have a negligible fracture less than 3mm in length.
