Rutilated quartz cab ~
Offered here is a designer cabochon of top quality rutilated quartz, from Brazil. It features beautifully sparkling needles of bright coppery rutile. Looks similar to some strawberry quartz I've seen, but perhaps this one's better named tangerine quartz. The quartz itself is quite clear; the coppery orange color is caused by the rutile. It's wall-to-wall needles, scattered every which way, so the stone has something going on virtually everywhere. Although I must say the photos seem to show even more rutile than the stone does in hand, that's probably due to the highly polished shape bouncing light all around within the cab. There are no frosty areas present that I can see, and no veils, pits or fractures, making this one truly top shelf. And you won't believe how this baby sparkles in direct sunlight! It has a very high rounded dome, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
