Marra Mamba cab ~
Here is a cabochon of Australian tigereye, hailing from the iron rich Marra Mamba formation in the Hammersley ranges of western Australia. It possesses a superabundance of astounding chatoyance that rolls and flashes beautifully, over base colors of various shades of golden greenish bronze, with streaks of reddish orange and yellow. It almost seems LIT from within, just glowing. Across the large end is a band of dark silvery hematite, and there's a bit at the pointed end as well, with fine threads of hematite running through between (not cracks!) The cab has a very high rounded dome, a strong designer 'shield' shape, and an excellent glassy polish both front and back. And at a price of less than $3 per carat, it's a genuine bargain!
