Raspberry tube agate cab ~
Here is a cabochon of high calibre raspberry tube agate from Mexico. This superbly figured agate is one of the best fairly recent finds being made available to lapidaries, and I must say I like it a lot! It is mined at the Crown Of Silver claims as an extra added bonus. The lovely reddish raspberry coloration is due to the infiltration of rhodonite, so the miner tells me, and in this example the red plumes and tubes are edged with black psilomelane. There are two small open druzy pockets that add a nice sparkle, and other larger sparkling crystalline areas beneath the surface. Nicely translucent too, as illustrated by the backlit photo. The cab has a very high rounded dome, and a fine glassy polish both front and back.
