Carnelian cab ~
Here is a gorgeous cabochon of fiery Oregon carnelian, also known as orange chalcedony. It features delicously juicy cherry-orange coloration, a terrific pattern of internal 'cornflakes', and excellent translucence. The color is so super saturated that it overwhelms the camera's eye and tends to wash out details like the flakes inside this stone, so please be sure to click the photos up to their full size for a good look. The cab has a well rounded dome of over 5mm, a gracefully fluid shape, and a brilliantly glassy polish both front and back.
