Rain forest jasper cab ~
Here is a cabochon of rain forest 'jasper', from Australia. This material is actually highly silicated rhyolite, and it does include several areas of translucent agate. Like tiny embedded thundereggs, many of the centers feature orange orbs at their cores, edged with shades of yellow. The stone is a study in greens, more varied than the photos reveal, with but one tiny pit on the backside. The cab has a very high rounded dome, a crisp symmetrical shape, and a great glassy polish both front and back.
