Cacoxenite cab ~
Here is a designer cabochon of quartz with inclusions of golden cacoxenite, a genuine rarity. Those tiny 'thorns' are technically termed goethite, and they shine in a bright golden yellow color. Their appearance is like spun gold, and in this cab there are row upon row upon row of them. The are some interesting feathers of 'fairy frost' present, but the backlit photo illustrates the stone's great translucence. The cab has a high rounded dome, a crisp shape, and a fine glossy polish both front and back.
