Blue dinosaur bone cab ~
Offered here is a superb cabochon of fossilized dinosaur bone, from Utah. This highly silicated material is many millions of years old, and it is a marvelous example of the natural preservation of our earth's ancient, extinct 'thunder lizards'. The cells in this fossil bone have been completely replaced with bluish purple agate, and each is framed with a lattice-like network of webbing in cream and tan. Those are the actual cell walls, and they're quite distinct here. Some of the cells are fortified with subtle bands, like tiny translucent agate nodules. This is an example of some of the most collectible gem bone ever found, straight from my own personal stash. The cab has a generously high and well rounded dome of 6.5mm, a fancy designer shape, polished both front and back.
