Dryhead agate ~
Here is a cabochon of Dryhead agate, from Montana. This beauty features areas of fortification banding and a bunch of seldom seen plumes(!) in hues of rusty reddish-orange. Those plumes really showed off for the photos, but I think they're a bit darker in hand. I also need to mention the presence of a small healed fracture or two, though to my eye they're not distracting atall, and the stone is quite solid and stable. The cab has a low but well-rounded dome with well-rounded edges, a gracefully long spear-like shape, and a nice glassy polish both front and back.
