Turquoise cab ~
Offered here is a designer cabochon of turquoise from the Hubei mine in China. This example has some wonderfully attractive spiderwebbing with excellent contrast. The bright sky blue coloration is balanced by attractive shades of green, ochre and russet, set off by the grayish to black matrix forming the webs. No doubt this material has been stabilized by some hardening process, as is most modern turquoise, but I don't believe it has been subjected to artificial coloring of any kind. It polished like a dream, and will wear wonderfully, without changing over the years. The cab has a high rounded dome of 6mm, a bold designer shape, and it is finished with a smooth glossy polish both front and back.
