Dinosaur bone cab ~
Offered here is a superb cabochon of fossilized dinosaur bone, from Utah. This highly silicated material is many millions of years old, and it is a marvelous example of the natural preservation of our earth's ancient, extinct 'thunder lizards'. The cells in this fossil bone have been completely replaced with sky blue agate, and each is framed with a lattice-like network of webbing in jet black. Those are the actual cell walls, and they're quite clear and distinct here. Quite a number of the cells are beautifully fortified with subtle bands, like tiny translucent agate nodules complete with mauve or darker blue hearts, while others have sparkly crystalline cores. The cab has a generously high and well rounded dome of 6mm, a bold designer shape, polished both front and back.
