Royal eyes cabenite jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of cabenite, also called royal eyes jasper. It was found years ago in an area near McDermitt, on the Nevada/Oregon border, in thunderegg form. The fellow who mined them was offering some small (& rather expensive) slabettes at the Madras gem show a few years back. Every stone I've cut from this jasper has been one of a kind, and this example is no exception. It has a wild array of patterns and dark, rich colors somewhat reminiscent of Bruneau jasper, and also bears a resemblance to some Morrisonite and Willow Creek jaspers, but this attractive combination is unique to royal eyes jasper. Have FUN with it! The stone has a low rounded dome, and a long designer 'catseye' shape that's highly polished front and back.
Size: 54x17mm
