Dinosaur bone cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon cut from fossilized dinosaur bone, found in Utah. This highly silicated material is many millions of years old, a marvelous example of the natural preservation of our earth's ancient, extinct 'thunder lizards'. Over millennia, the cells in this fossil bone have been completely replaced with unusual white agate, with subtle hints of the palest pastel shade of bluish-white. Some of the cores within the cells are a bit darker and more bluish-gray. And happily, there is not even a hint of any calcification; this bone is remarkably hard, and is without the frustrating flaws that typically plague gem bone material. The bold webbing contrasts nicely, enhancing the details to the fullest. The cab has a high and well rounded dome of about 7mm, a plump designer teardrop shape, and a smooth, gleaming polish both front and back.
