Description
~ Pyritized dinosaur bone cab ~

Offered here is a cabochon of pyritized dinosaur bone, cut from a specimen found on the shores of a river in Siberia. The highly prized and extremely RARE material is many millions of years old, a marvelous example of the natural preservation of our earth's ancient, extinct 'thunder lizards'. Nearly all of the once living bone has been replaced with shiny metallic pyrite (and probably marcasite), and the subtle pattern of the darker cell walls is still quite apparent. And it IS really shiny: That dark spot in the first 2 pics is a reflection of my camera's lens, that isn't actually there. Wow, huh?! There are some areas of what I'm told may be symbercite, and a few flecks of white silica, and it has a suprisingly hefty weight in hand. This beauty has a sweet designer 'flame' shape, a well rounded dome of 6.5mm, and a bright, gleaming mirror-like polish both front and back.

Size: 46x23mm
Weight: approximately 78 carats
