Pigeon blood agate cab ~
Offered here is a unique cabochon of pigeon blood agate, also known as cornelian, from Utah. This material is so named for its splashes or dots, which are crimson in color, resembling droplets of pigeon's blood, but this example features an unusual pattern of ribbons. Red ribbons seen on edge, along with a few red droplets, suspended a in highly translucent background, as illustrated by the backlit photo. The stone has a well rounded dome of 6mm, a designer drop shape, and a slick, glassy polish both front and back.
