Royal imperial jasper cab ~
Offered here is an intriguing cabochon of Imperial jasper, from Mexico. This collectible 'ojitos' material is simply wonderful stuff, another member of the fine grained porcelain jasper family I love so much. (Ojitos means little eyes in Spanish.) It has a delightful 'stacked eggs' pattern that reminds me of another classic porcelain jasper that we all know and love, from Bruneau Canyon, more than a thousand miles away. This example has blended shades of pinks and reddish orange to mauve colors, with a bit of a cracked egg pattern in the central orb. The stone has a generously high rounded dome of 7mm, a plump designer 'flame' shape, and a great glassy polish both front and back.
