Opalite cab ~
Offered here is a large, deluxe cabochon of purple opalite, cut from the heart of a prized nodule from Utah's Brush-Wellman beryllium mine, now closed to any collecting. Sometimes known as bertrandite, Tiffany stone, ice cream opal, and 'Purple Passion', no matter what you call it, it's incredibly gorgeous stuff! I'm told this rare opal gets its beautiful coloration from fluorite. This unique stone has so much going on, including pools of gorgeous blue agate, that it'd be best to let the pictures describe it all. Interesting to note that this opalite also fluoresces wildly, in bright greens, if you're into that UV light thing... The contrasting colors in this cab would look great with either gold or silver, for an heirloom quality piece of wearable art. It has a well rounded dome of 5+mm, and a sweet designer 'flame' shape, beautifully polished both front and back.
Size:67x24mm
Weight: approximately 61 carats
Price: $69.00
