Description
~ Tahoma jasper cab ~

Offered here is a large cabochon of Tahoma jasper, from the slopes of Mt. Rainier in Washington state. The local American Indian name for that same mountain is Tahoma, which translates roughly to 'next to heaven', and it is considered to be a sacred place. So someone chose a great name for this terrific and rare material! This unique cab is an interesting example, with a translucent crystalline core down the center, surrounded by scallops of cream and brown, which are in turn enclosed by blue-gray. This stone does have a couple of the all too typical hairline inclusions, but those seem to be quite well healed. The cab has a high rounded dome of 7mm, and a designer 'S' shape, brilliantly polished both front and back.

Size: 60x17mm
Weight: approximately 59 carats
