Ammonite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon cut from a fossil ammonite, from Madagascar. The species is Cleoniceras madagascariense, and I'm told it lived hundreds of millions of years ago. This example has an amazing suture pattern roughly resembling the shape of oak leaves, translucent golden amber in color. They stand out in sharp contrast against a background of deep avocado green. No doubt it'll make an intriguing item of jewelry! The cab has a well rounded dome of 6mm, a crisp designer 'spearhead' shape, and a slick glossy polish both front and back.
