Description
~ Linda Marie plume agate cab ~

Offered here is an intriguing cabochon of "mosaic" agate, cut from a seam deposit on the Linda Marie plume agate claim, which is in Oregon, near the Idaho border. This example is one of the first few mosaic stones I've polished up, and I think you'll agree, it has some pleasantly unique figure and coloration. There is an almost brecciated look to it, with each piece of the puzzle in rich shades of chocolate brown, olive green and burnt orange outlined by lacy fortifications of pastel green & white. The busy pattern contrasts beautifully against a backdrop of pale peach chiffon, which apparently is composed of common opal or opalite. There are also some translucent, almost plume-like areas of light blue and white adding to the stone's palette and character. This one's easily fancy enough for the simplest of settings, I think, but the sky's the limit, so let your imagination soar! The stone has a low rounded dome of 5mm, and an elegant designer drop shape that's polished both front and back.

Size: 52x34mm
Weight: approximately 45 carats
