Malachite cab ~
Offered here is an extra fancy cabochon of malachite, from Zaire. It features an awesome pattern of multi-ringed bullseyes fortified by countless fine bandings in rich, vividly contrasting shades of light and dark green. There is also some sky blue chrysocolla within the banding, and some areas that show hints of chatoyance, like that seen in a satin ribbon. Plenty of character and appeal in this one! There are a couple small natural patches of brown matrix on the backside that didn't gloss up, typical of this type of stalactite malachite, and I only mention it for accuracy; I don't consider them flaws. This one will look positively extraordinary set in either silver or gold, no doubt. The cab has a generously high rounded dome of 8mm, and a designer drop shape, with a super glossy polish both front and back. A STEAL at less than a buck a carat!!
