Sugilite cab ~
Offered here is an cabochon of sugilite, from the Wessels mine near Kuramen, South Africa. This manganese gem features an gorgeous reddish-purple coloration, in an unusual nodular pattern of spots and clouds. No, it's not the gemmy gel material few of us can find or afford, but it's definitely beautiful nonetheless, with a few hints of a more bluish-purple hue at one edge. One thing I like about sugilite, other than the delightful color, is that it looks equally terrific in either silver or gold. The cab has a well rounded dome of 5.5mm, a designer teardrop shape, and an excellent polish both front and back.
