Description
~ Royal eyes cabenite jasper cab ~

Offered here is a cabochon of cabenite, also called royal eyes jasper. It was found years ago in an area near McDermitt, on the Nevada/Oregon border, in thunderegg form. The fellow who mined them has been offering some small (& rather expensive) slabettes at the Madras gem show for a few years now. Every stone I've cut from this jasper has been one of a kind, but this example has an even wilder array of patterns and colors than those others. So much so, that I'm going to have to rely on the photos to describe it! Reminds me a little of Bruneau jasper, and also bears a resemblance to some Morrisonite and Willow Creek jaspers, but this attractive combination is unique to royal eyes jasper. Have FUN with it! The stone has a low rounded dome, and a whimsical designer 'flame' shape that's highly polished front and back.

Size: 40x25mm
Weight: approximately 27 carats
