Dinosaur bone cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of fossilized dinosaur bone, from Utah. This highly silicated material is many millions of years old, a marvelous example of the natural preservation of our earth's ancient, extinct 'thunder lizards'. Over millennia, the cells in this fossil bone have been completely replaced with shades of pastel blue agate, with reddish-brown shading in nearly all. The cell walls are now a contrasting shade of light tan, forever frozen in time. The stone does show a bit of translucence, and a couple of sparkly crystalline pools for added character; please click the pics to view the closer shots. The cab has a well rounded dome of 5mm, and a crisp designer 'spear' shape, finished with a glassy polish both front and back.
