Parrot wing jasper cab ~
Offered here is a large cabochon of premium old stock parrot wing jasper, from Mexico. This delightful jasperized chrysocolla is becoming very difficult to find, unlike the more common copper complexes so often substituted for it and erroneously dubbed 'parrot wing'. This is the real deal, folks. It features a mottled pattern of rich azurite blue, malachite green and deepest darkest maroon red cuprite. The lone pool of turquoise blue chrysocolla really stands out. It's every bit as vivid as the photos depict, perhaps even moreso. I really enjoy cabbing this classic material for use in my own jewelry; it's strikingly colored, very solid, and there's seldom any difficulty achieving a smooth, glossy shine. The cab has a rounded dome of just under 5mm, a sleek designer 'crescent' shape, and it is polished both front and back.
