Petrified palm wood cab ~
Offered here is a truly remarkable collector's cabochon of petrified palm root, newly arrived GEM material from Sumatra. This outstanding fossil wood is a fascinating piece of the earth's natural history. This example has a wild pattern of tiny tube-like bullseyes at one side, while the other side is jam-packed with tiny dots. The entire stone shows the amazing woodgrain patterns of the once-living palm, some that's astonishingly intricate and perfectly preserved. There is a bit of translucence present in a couple of the eyes; within the pools at their centers, you'll find some astonishingly detailed tube-like tendrils. But it ought to make a fabulous item of jewelry too. -smile- The cab has a well rounded dome of 6mm, a graceful designer drop shape, and a brilliant polish both front and back.
