Silver in cobaltite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of native silver in cobaltite cut by Christopher, from the Cobalt, Ontario, Canada mine. This is a collectibly rare material you definitely don't see everyday, one that's very difficult to find and expensive when you do. It has a high precious silver content, and certainly looks the part, being surprisingly heavy for its size. The cab took an unbelievably shiny polish, and although the surface may appear bumpy in the photos, it is quite smooth, if you don't count a couple tiny natural voids at one side. There's is also some off-white dolomitic matrix. The metallics are very reflective and brilliant, almost like chrome. It has a rounded dome of 5mm, and a smooth, gleaming finish both front and back.
