Petrified palm root cab ~
Offered here is an unusualcabochon of petrified palm root, GEM material from Sumatra. This outstanding fossil wood is a fascinating piece of the earth's natural history. This example has a wild pattern of woodgrain and windblown bullseyes, several of which line up down the middle and follow the curve of the stone. The whole cab shows amazing figure, some that's remarkably intricate. The center of the eyes have a degree of translucence, and if you look very closely, you'll find some astonishingly detailed tube-like tendrils. Click the photos up to their larger size for a hint of what I mean. Nice contrast in this beauty, very unique! No fossil collection is complete without a fine example of this amazing new palm root. It ought to make a fabulous item of jewelry. The cab has a well rounded dome of 6mm, a gracefully curved designer drop shape, and a brilliant polish both front and back.
