Description
~ Queensland agate cab ~

Offered here is a large & very unique cabochon of Queensland agate, believe it or not, which was "fossicked" long ago at Australia's famous Agate Creek agate beds. This remarkable treasure is an impressive example of an eye agate, boasting a festive array of dots with white outlines. They contrast nicely against a background of olive, orange, and cherry-orange. Out of all the Queenies I've had the pleasure of slicing over the years, this is only the second eye agate I've ever come across. I'm told these sought after Down Under agates get their brilliant coloration from of the presence of iron, which sets them apart from many of their plainer cousins. But whatever causes these unusual eye agates to occur is a mystery to me! I zoomed in for the last photo so you could see the fascinating moire pattern fortifying the spaces between the eyes. This stone will be absolutely thrilling in either a silver or gold setting, or whatever else you might dream up! It has a generously high rounded dome of 8mm, a bold designer 'spear' shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.

Size: 58x27mm
