Offered here is a cabochon of Hampton Butte petrified wood, from Oregon. This prized wood is renowned for its rare green coloration, in which the original wood and woodgrain has been replaced by an agate and jasper blend. More accurately a wood cast. The stone is truly a treasure, and has an extraordinary pattern that appears to be almost brecciated. Rivers of deep green agate gel wind through the golden avocado jasper areas, lending a dimension of depth that's tough to capture in flat photos. It reminds me of some coprolites I've seen, with coloration that resembles that of rainforest jasper, yet it has a beauty all its own. The cab has a well rounded dome of 6mm, a long designer 'wedge' shape, and it is polished both front and back.
