Marra mamba cab ~
Offered here is an amazing cabochon of rare Marra Mamba tigereye, from Australia. This startling material is brilliantly chatoyant, with a bright rolling flash you just can't miss, even in these flat digital photos. The color is an amazing shade of fiery copper-red, the most highly prized of all the colors, as well as ribbons of light and dark shades of blue. But it also has places where the colors mix together, to beautiful effect. The rounded end has a bit of gold chatoyance, and patches of shiny metallic hematite & magnetite. There are some razor-fine metallic threads in the stone too, which are actually quite shiny to the eye, though the camera records them as being dark. The squared off end has bands of hematite alternating with yellow jasper, and a velvety orange chatoyance. It's an awesome GEMMY example anyone would be proud to own. The stone has a nicely rounded dome of 5mm, and an excellent glassy polish. The back is unpolished, but smooth. My per carat price is a steal of a deal!
