Imperial jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of royal imperial jasper, from Mexico. This collectible 'ojitos' material is simply wonderful stuff, another member of the fine grained porcelain jasper family I love so much. (Ojitos means little eyes in Spanish.) This gemmy example has just the one well-formed bullseye surrounded by attractive shades of avocado as well as deep forest green gel. I didn't snap a backlit photo, but the dark green area is surprisingly translucent. I particularly like the sky blue area, which is rather uncommon. The stone has a rounded dome of 5.5mm, a designer drop shape, and a fine glassy polish both front and back.
