Petrified palm root cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of petrified palm root, newly arrived GEM material from Sumatra. This fossil wood is a fascinating piece of the earth's natural history, and I think it's absolutely gorgeous stuff! It's been a joy to work with, showing none of the typical pits and chalky soft spots this petrified wood so often has. The once-living palm's speckled figure is extraordinary, with a contrasting pattern of creamy tan petioles against a backdrop of brown and jet black. Awesome windblown eyes at the larger end. The cab has a bold designer 'spear' shape, a well rounded dome of 5mm, and it is perfectly polished both front and back.
