Petrified palm root cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of petrified palm root, newly arrived GEM material from Sumatra. This fossil wood is a fascinating piece of the earth's natural history, and I think it's absolutely gorgeous stuff! The once-living palm's speckled figure practically leaps out of the stone, with a contrasting pattern of creamy tan petioles against a backdrop of jet black, brown, and blue agate. There are also bunches of tiny tubes visible within the translucent agate, and in the centers of most of the windblown eyes. No pet wood collection is complete without an example of palm wood, and this one is truly a delight. The cab has a bold designer shape, a well rounded dome of 6mm, and it is perfectly polished both front and back.
