Turquoise ~
Offered here is a cabochon of turquoise from China, cut from hand selected rough fresh from this year's Tucson shows. The stone has wonderfully appealing turquoise blue-green hues with nicely contrasting black spiderwebbing, shading to olive green where the two meet. It reminds me a lot of the old Royston turquoise, the stuff I chose back in the '70s for my own jewelry. This material has been stabilized by a hardening process, as is most modern turquoise, so it will wear wonderfully, without darkening or dimming over the years. The cab has a nicely rounded dome of 6mm, and it has a smooth glossy polish both front and back.
