Moroccan agate cab ~
Offered here is a large & fascinating cabochon of agate from Morocco. I cut and finished this unusual stone the other day after it sat on my bench for years because I couldn't quite figure out how to work around its flaws. What finally made me decide to cut it was seeing a friend's Moroccan agate collection, and realizing that nearly every one has some hairlines or other imperfection! So I just went for it, and I think it's a beauty. It features groupings of small but extra fancy plumes in golden yellow, which stand out nicely against crimson red. The healed hairline flaws are in the upper right gray and white banded area (main photo), and only show at certain angles, so I think one could conceal them fairly easily with a well-designed setting. I hope someone will do as I did, and just go for it! Cuz it's a truly remarkable stone. It has a well rounded dome of 7mm, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
