Royal imperial jasper cab ~
Offered here is a fabulous cabochon of royal imperial jasper, from Mexico. This collectible 'ojitos' material is awesome stuff, another member of the fine grained porcelain jasper family I love so much. (Ojitos means little eyes in Spanish.) This example features an extra fancy pattern like outwardly radiating ripples on a pond. What catches the eye most are the pleasing shades of teal and sky blues, both light and dark, which are far less common than most other colors. The old ivory backdrop has blushes of gold, avocado green and pink tones within that meandering blue band. The backside is absolutely gorgeous too, with its big sky blue orb, so an open back setting would be just the thing. The cab has a rounded dome of 5mm, a graceful designer 'flame' shape, and a super glassy polish both front and back.
