Nipomo marcasite agate cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of rare Nipomo marcasite in agate, from that famous location in Central California. I've heard the area where this great old material was once collected now has condos built on it, so that's it for collecting, folks. This fine example has rivulets of clear agate threading between shiny metallic 'chromed islands' of bright marcasite. Plumes, actually, in the smaller pattern that I prefer, with oodles of gleam! The metallic blooms are eged with pale blue billows, adding contrast and character. Nipomo marcasite is an extremely challenging material to photograph because it's so highly reflective, but you get the idea. The cab has a well rounded dome of 6mm, a curvy designer 'flame' shape, and a gleaming polish both front and back.
