Rutilated quartz cab ~
Offered here is a large cabochon of rutilated quartz, from Brazil, some of the best I've ever had to work with. It features beautifully flashy needles of bright golden rutile, some of which show an attractive rusty orange tint. This super fine 'angel hair' rutile has a surprising rolling chatoyant sheen when light hits them just so, though that's tough to capture digitally. Small stones of this material, when cut with high domes, will actually show starring. It's packed with layers of rutile, bunched up, single, and one atop the other, criss-crossing every which way. The water clear quartz really shows off, and even amplifies, this stone's many inclusions. And you should see how dazzling the rutile looks in direct sunlight, just like threads of spun gold! The cab has a beautifully rounded dome of about 5mm, and a crisp designer 'chevron' shape, polished to a glassy brilliance both front and back.
