Dinosaur bone cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of fossilized dinosaur bone, from Utah. This highly silicated material is many millions of years old, a marvelous example of the natural preservation of our earth's ancient, extinct 'thunder lizards'. Over millennia, the cells in this fossil bone have been completely replaced with translucent gel that has a reddish tint. Each cell is framed by a web of the actual cell walls, now tan, beige and gray, forever frozen in time. Most are colorful crimson and red, with a few bright yellow cells, and some ghostly blue 'cores', making them look like tiny fortified agates, which they are!
