Dinosaur Bone cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of spiderwebbed dinosaur bone, from Utah. This highly silicated material is many millions of years old, a marvelous example of the natural preservation of our earth's ancient, extinct 'thunder lizards'. Over millennia, the cells in this fossil bone have been completely replaced with translucent agate, with a few awesome fortifications in crimson red and pale grayish blue. Each cell is loosely framed by mossy webs, which is all that's left of the actual cell walls, forever frozen in time. The entire stone is also surprisingly translucent, despite its generous thickness; please click the pics to view the closer shots for a visual treat! The cab has a high and well rounded dome of 6mm, a designer shape, and an excellent glassy polish both front and back.
