Dinosaur Bone cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of fossilized dinosaur bone, from Utah. This highly silicated material is many millions of years old, a marvelous example of the natural preservation of our earth's ancient, extinct 'thunder lizards'. Over millennia, the cells in this fossil bone have been completely replaced with shades of bluish agate, with some small hints of pink. The cells are framed by remnants of the actual cell walls, now a contrasting maroon in color, with black, forever frozen in time. The stone does show a bit of translucence; please click the pics to view the closer shots. The cab has a well rounded dome of 5mm, and a designer 'flame' shape, finished with a glassy polish both front and back.
