Imperial jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of royal imperial jasper, from Mexico. This collectible 'ojitos' material is simply wonderful stuff, another member of the fine grained porcelain jasper family I love so much. (Ojitos means little eyes in Spanish.) This one features a central orbicular pattern of orbs in pastel shades of mauve, surrounded by a ring of sky blue. That is, in turn, edged with avocado green surrounded by old ivory. There's also a secondary curtain pattern of diagonal streaks, and the backside is beautiful as well. The stone has a rounded dome of 5.5mm, and a sweet designer shape that contains the pattern nicely. Polished both front and back.
