Imperial japser cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of imperial jasper, from Mexico. This classic old material is absolutely amazing stuff, a member of the fine grained porcelain jasper family I love so much. This example has an almost brecciated pattern resembling curtains in shades of avocado green, alternating with creamy old ivory. The darkest area along the inside curve is surprisingly translucent, as I attempted to illustrate in the backlit photo. The stone has a high rounded dome of 5.5mm, a graceful designer shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
