Description
~ Turritella agate cab ~

Offered here is a HUGE cabochon of turritella agate, from Wyoming. This ancient fossilized material is chock full of turrietella shells, from which it takes its name. The creamy white shells are most apparent in this artistically composed example, the largest of which has sparkly druzy pockets allowing a view into the stone. One shell is filled with translucent orangish agate, while another on the side has bluish-gray agate with water-level bands. I'm told they can sometimes include teensy tiny fossilized shrimp! The network of shells contrast strongly against a background of black and brown agate. It's a beauty! The cab has an extra high rounded dome of 9mm, a rounded designer 'bullet' shape, and it's nicely polished both front and back.

Size: 53x24mm
Weight: approximately 102 carats
