Description
~ Horn Coral cab ~

Offered here is a magnificent cabochon of fossilized horn coral, from Utah. I've heard the old collecting site is closed, so that explains why the good stuff has become so spendy and hard to get. Horn corals are actually ancient sea life, and you can clearly see the organic nature of this once-living coral retained in the agate. It has the classic 'radiating spoke' figure, in shades of reddish coral pink. A close look reveals it also has some teensy bullseye patterns, as well as neat veils of agate beneath the surface. The stone has a well rounded dome of 6mm, a plump teardrop shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
