Biggs Jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of Biggs jasper, from Oregon. This classic porcelain jasper is a cherished part of most collections, and it happens to be one of the first gem jaspers I ever tried cabbing. This unusual example has a very simplistic mountain scene limned in rich chocolaty brown lines against a tan and brown backdrop. Some fancy black dendrites provide the necessary foliage. It has a low rounded dome of 4mm (surprisingly perfect for this stone), and a soft designer 'pillow' shape. Despite a light scattering of minute pinpoint freckles, this stone took a smooth glassy polish both front and back.
